About Matthew Sparkes: As Chief Risk Officer & General Counsel of BlueOrchard, Matt oversees the risk management, legal and compliance departments for the world’s leading impact asset manager. Prior to that, Matt worked for social investment pioneer Root Capital, where he built the inhouse counsel function and a comprehensive framework for the management of legal and operational risk. He previously served as Special Counsel to the Division of Trading and Markets at the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) at its Washington headquarters and as a policy adviser to a senior member of the US Congress. Among the few lawyers specialized in impact investment, he has been closely involved in the efforts to develop a specialized area of legal practice in this emerging field and Matt is happy to share some of his experience with LEC and Young SECA Members.

Law & Economics Club: The LEC was founded in 2007 for the purpose of discourse between interdisciplinary thinking lawyers and economists. For its approximately 100 club members, the LEC is increasingly dedicated to the individual life's work of personalities. In the context of "myway" events, selected personalities from business, politics and culture give an insight into their life's work for about 45 minutes and are available for a personal dialogue.

Young SECA: The SECA is the representative body for Switzerland‘s private equity, ven-ture capital and corporate finance industries. Members of the SECA include equity investment companies, banks, corporate finance advisors, auditing companies, management consult-ants, lawyers, and private investors. Young SECA was launched as an independent chapter in 2011 to connect young entrepreneurs and young investors in Switzerland in order to strengthen the Swiss ecosystem for start-ups.
