More InformationIt is nearly impossible to visit a financial news site without seeing a story about ESG today. Environmental, social and governance (ESG) factors have become an important part of every investment analysis in one way or the another.
ESG rating providers have been instrumental in building a framework to compare the sustainability of companies across industries and regions. However, many market participants find them confusing, inconsistent, and opaque.
The issuance of CHF-denominated ESG-labelled bonds has hit a new rec-ord in 2021: a total of CHF 5.3bn green and sustainable bonds have been issued in the Swiss franc market last year. Newer formats such as sustainability-linked bonds are expected to gain importance as more corporate issuers are looking to finance their transition to a more sustainable future.
In a mix of presentations and panel discussions we are trying to shed some light on the challenges market participants such as ESG raters, issuers and investors are currently facing, and we will also look ahead on the changes needed for a credible sustainable financial market.
