Switzerland defies the adverse economic conditions. In the first nine months, more new companies were founded than ever before. A total of 33,617 new companies were founded in the first three quarters of 2020, an increase of +2.5% compared to the record year 2019. In which cantons were the most start-ups established? This is shown by the IFJ's national analysis. Zug is by far the leader with 13.7 start-ups per 1,000 residents, followed by the cantons of Schwyz, Appenzell Innerrhoden, Geneva and Basel-Stadt.
