But while the companies that VCs fund may make headlines and transform entire industries, venture capitalists themselves often prefer to remain in the background, shrouded in mystery.

Private Equity winners and losers – Is your business model ready?

he fund landscape is changing, creating more winners and losers in an increasingly polarised ecosystem. The pandemic and long-term megatrends are forcing strategic and competitive shifts in private equity markets that will have far reaching implications on fund business models and internal processes. In particular, they are driving a “collapse-of-the-middle”, as successful fund business models migrate to either large one-stop-shop private-asset “supermarkets” or niche specialists. Traditional mid-market funds are steadily coming under increasing pressure and will need to find new sources of differentiation in order to attract new funding, talent and investment opportunities.

The Zero: Why zero rates are increasing the appeal of private assets

Through unparalleled fiscal and policy support, the global economy has survived the initial trauma of Covid-19. However, it is too early to say that economic damage has been entirely averted, nor even that it can yet be quantified. Much like emergency surgery, the economy has simply been given the time to repair, but there are many battles left to fight in the pandemic.

How infrastructure debt can defend against The Zero

The zero interest rate environment has had a range of effects on investor and market behaviour. We could point to the exuberance of equity markets, which are at or near all time highs. Or that almost a fifth of the global high yield bond market now yields less than 2%. We could cite numerous examples of traditional risk strategies failing to work as expected through bouts of high volatility.
