Das erste Mal in der Geschichte der Schweiz wurden innerhalb eines Jahres über 50'000 Firmen gegründet. Insgesamt 50'545 neue Firmeneinträge verzeichnet das Schweizerische Handelsregister im Jahr 2021, was einem Anstieg von +7.9% im Vergleich zum Rekord-Vorjahr 2020 entspricht. 17,4 Mrd. EUR wurden im letzten Jahr in deutsche Start-ups investiert. Damit stieg der Gesamtwert der Wagniskapitalinvestitionen im Vergleich zum Vorjahr um 229 % (2020: 5,3 Mrd. EUR). Akina, MindMetrix, MYLEG, and PeriVision win Venture Kick's second stage of financial and entrepreneurial support. Their projects gather the worlds of digital healthcare and entertainment; connect neurophysiology, virtual reality, and mental resilience training; help amputees improve their walking abilities by using a non-invasive sensory wearable, as an add-on to their prostheses; and make glaucoma diagnosis and monitoring accessible to everyone.

The breakdown for spin-​offs in 2021: 25 new start-​ups and about CHF 390 million in capital raised. Faster coronavirus tests, artificial coral reefs and automated insect breeding have found their place in the economy. The proportion of female entrepreneurs has increased significantly.

Schlieren-based biotech company Neurimmune has entered into an exclusive global collaboration and license agreement with Alexion, AstraZeneca’s Rare Disease group. Somit ergänzt UDITIS das Serviceportfolio der Unternehmensgruppe. Die Gründer und Schlüsselmitarbeiter von UDITIS stellen weiterhin einen bedeutenden Teil des Aktionariats und werden die Unternehmensentwicklung als Teil von Sequotech weiter vorantreiben.

Investment group Waterland Private Equity (“Waterland”) has acquired RUF|Betten and BRUNO. The company is among the leading suppliers of premium beds in the German market. The seller is NORD Holding. RUF and BRUNO’s current management will remain with the companies in their usual function. The transaction is expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2022 and is subject to the usual antitrust approval by the German regulatory authorities; no further financial details have been released.

Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. the world leader in serving science, and PeproTech, Inc., a leading developer and manufacturer of recombinant proteins, announced that Thermo Fisher completed its acquisition of PeproTech on December 30, 2021 for a total cash purchase price of approximately $1.85 billion.

Die Börsenkurse und IPO-Märkte in Europa und Nordamerika entwickelten sich 2021 sehr stark. In Europa wuchs das Emissionsvolumen für das Jahr 2021 auf EUR 77 Mrd. bei beinahe 600 Börsengängen an und in Nordamerika resultierte mit fast 1'100 Börsengängen gar eine vierstellige Zahl an Erstnotierungen.

In der Schweiz kamen mit den Börsengängen von SKAN und VT5 Acquisition Company im Q4 2021 zwei weitere IPOs an der SIX Swiss Exchange dazu. VT5 Acquisition Company war dabei das erste IPO einer Special Purpose Acquisition Company (SPAC) in der Schweiz. Damit resultierte für das Jahr 2021 ein Total von sechs Börsengängen in der Schweiz, wovon fünf an der SIX Swiss Exchange und einer an der BX Swiss stattfand. Für das Jahr 2022 darf gemäss Dr. Andreas Neumann, Leiter Equity Capital Markets der Zürcher Kantonalbank, wieder von mehreren Börsengängen in der Schweiz ausgegangen werden, wobei diese bezüglich Grösse, Branche und Transaktionsart vielfältig sein werden.

The global IPO market continues to grow in the fourth quarter of 2021: 621 companies went public worldwide between October and December - an increase of 16 percent year-on-year. The issue volume grew by nine percent year-on-year, to a total of 112 billion US dollars. The positive trend that began to emerge in the previous quarters is continuing.

• Die Studie zeigt, dass die börsennotierte Lebensmittelindustrie in einer 1,5°C-Welt einen potenziellen Verlust an Marktkapitalisierung in Höhe von 295 Mrd. USD erleiden könnte, wenn der Übergang zu traditionellen pflanzlichen und alternativen Proteinen beschleunigt wird. 

• Dieser Verlust könnte gemildert werden, wenn die Lebensmittelunternehmen ihre Umsatzchancen in der Wertschöpfungskette auf überwiegend traditionelle pflanzliche und alternative Proteine verlagern und damit die Risiken des Klimawandels minimieren würden. 

• Ein weiteres Ergebnis ist, dass das Risiko des Klimawandels in der Wertschöpfungskette für Unternehmen, die mehr als 50 % ihres Umsatzanteils mit traditionellen pflanzlichen und alternativen Proteinen erzielen, im Durchschnitt um 95 % geringer ist.

Julius Bär hatte Wergen & Partner im Februar 2017 übernommen. Seiher habe sich profitable Unternehmen erfolgreich entwickelt. Dabei hätten sich die verwalteten Vermögen verdoppelt.
